In this first love letter, I will share some scholarship opportunities you can get started with today.
1. Microsoft and Linkedin Learning In-Demand Skills for the Digital Economy with Certificates of Completion:
In 2020, Microsoft launched an initiative to help 25 million people worldwide acquire the digital skills needed in a COVID-19 economy.
This initiative will bring together every part of our company, combining existing and new resources from LinkedIn, GitHub, and Microsoft. It will be grounded in three areas of activity:
(1) The use of data to identify in-demand jobs and the skills needed to fill them;
(2) Free access to learning paths and content to help people develop the skills these positions require;
(3) Low-cost certifications and free job-seeking tools to help people who develop these skills pursue new jobs.
At its heart, this comprehensive technology initiative will build on data and digital technology. It starts with data on jobs and skills from the LinkedIn Economic Graph. It provides free access to content in LinkedIn Learning, Microsoft Learn, and the GitHub Learning Lab, and couples these with Microsoft Certifications and LinkedIn job-seeking tools. In addition, Microsoft is backing the effort with $20 million in cash grants to help nonprofit organizations worldwide assist the people who need it most. One-quarter of this total, or $5 million, will be provided in cash grants to community-based nonprofit organizations that are led by and serve communities of color in the United States.

2. AWS AI & ML Scholarship program:
Whether you’re new to AI or looking to break into the field, the AWS AI & ML Scholarship program allows students globally to learn foundational skills to prepare for careers in tech. Start your journey with skills training designed by AWS and Udacity experts to get you hands-on with real projects, learn from mentors in the field, and access career resources.
Break into tech with the new Generative AI Scholarship
New this year – all scholarship applicants who complete the necessary prerequisites get free access to the Introducing Generative AI with AWS course, a USD 250 value! Through practical training and labs, you’ll gain in-demand skills in this cutting-edge domain and receive a certificate upon completion.
The scholarship program works on a cohort-based approach. Each year, two cohorts of 1,000 students are selected (2,000 total). Winter cohort applications open June 1, 2024, once summer applications close.
